film synopsis

The "Mountain Jews" of Guba, in northern Azerbaijan, have maintained their Sephardic traditions and unique language (Juarit) since the early 1700's. Once a population of 18,000, their numbers have, through emigration, diminished to less than 5,000. Like many of her fellow townspeople, Tammy Schneider has settled in Israel. She guides us on a tour of the land of her birth, uncovering its distinctive rituals and flavors.
