PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL TO SHINE IN JUPITER

12th Annual Event to Honor Charlie Chaplin
on the 30th Anniversary of his Death

PALM BEACH, FL., March 15, 2007 – The Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF) and the Maltz Jupiter Theatre announced its plans to partner and host two events for the upcoming PBIFF April 19 – 26. Silent film lovers and children of all ages have events targeted just for them at the Maltz Jupiter Theater. Additional Jupiter events include an educational workshop and networking event at the Burt Reynolds and Friends Museum.

“We certainly are the Festival with something for everyone. From silent films to children’s films, we hope you partake in these great events,” explained Randi Emerman, Executive Director of the Palm Beach International Film Festival, “We are excited to introduce the community to these great venues and all that Jupiter has to offer.”

Silent Film Fest, Friday, April 20 at 3 pm. The PBIFF pays tribute to the greatest silent filmmaker of all time, Charlie Chaplin. 2007 marks the 30th anniversary of his death, so in honor of this legendary filmmaker, the festival will present The Gold Rush. Today, The Gold Rush appears as one of Chaplin’s most perfectly accomplished films. Though he himself was inclined to be changeable in his affections for his own work, to the end of his life he would frequently declare that of all his films, this was the one by which he would most wish to be remembered.

The first true western, the 1903 Great Train Robbery will screen just prior to The Gold Rush. The screenings will be hosted by film professor and historian Martin Leichter. Admission is one nickel. Reservations are not needed, please arrive early as seating is on a first come first served basis.
