Voices of Local Film Celebrates Five Years During Film Festival, Calls For Submissions
WEST PALM BEACH-The Palm Beach Film Society will celebrate five years of Voices of Local Film during this year’s Palm Beach International Film Festival, April 19th-26, 2007. “Voices” is the only category during the Festival which features films made by local, non-student filmmakers. The special evening includes the films which win the “Making the Cut” category. Awards are presented immediately following the screening in categories of Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor/Actress. The films are less than ½ hour and feature Palm Beach County directors, writers, actors and/or locations. The Society is calling for submissions from local filmmakers for the Voices of Local Film 2007.
“The purpose of the Voices of Local Film is the same as the Society’s mission: To foster the development of local filmmakers and filmmaking. There is so much talent right here in our back yard, and we honor it every year,” says Society President Heath McKnight. “Past winners have gone on to major projects nationally and internationally in the film industry. This being our fifth year, we plan on highlighting some of the recent achievements of our past winners,” says McKnight.
Submission into the Voices of Local Film category is separate from the PBIFF submission. Local filmmakers from the Treasure Coast through the tri-county area are encourages to submit their short (less than ½ hour) project any time through the month of January 2007. Rules and regulations are found at the Palm Beach Film Society’s web site, www.pbfilmsociety.org.
The Palm Beach Film Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit committed to the fostering of local filmmakers and the film community.
